Int. E&I Project Engineer

The Int. E&I Engineer will report to the Lead Project Engineer at a client based Western Canada site. This role will be a Project Manager for several projects, such as Safety Instrument System – procurement of SIS equipment, replacement of electrical protection relays and upgrade of low voltage switchgear.

The position is in a secondment role working directly under the care and control of Rally’s client. Work can be executed remotely – it is not necessary to commute to the client facility on a daily basis. Occasional travel (2-5 days per month) to the client site is expected.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:
  • Support development of request for proposal (RFI) scope, clarifications, award documents and project execution, construction strategy.
  • Interface and coordinate with select EPC firms toward successful execution of engineering design phase.
  • Manage (in coordination with EPC contractor) the development and implementation of work breakdown structures, engineering progress and cost monitoring system.
  • Ensure that project is completed on schedule meeting owner’s quality standards within the baseline man hour budgets and schedule.
  • Ensure appropriate risk and constructability reviews are performed.
  • Provide support to the construction team, ensuring prompt, precise resolution of construction deficiencies in the field.
  • Engage with contractors and commissioning teams in start up and commissioning for major electrical and instrumentation systems.
  • Create / Support engineering designs to resolve issues arising during construction.
  • Coordinate with Client to ensure timely receipt and delivery of information.
  • Review of engineering work packages based on industry code, client’s internal standards, and industry best practices.
  • Duration: anticipated to start August 1; initial term of 14-months with possibility of extension.
  • Schedule: anticipated work schedule is 40-hours / week, Monday to Friday.


Qualifications - Education, Skills and Experience:
  • Electrical / Instrumentation Engineering Degree through an accredited post-secondary institution.
  • P. Eng. preferred; PMP an asset
  • 3-10 years experience
  • Previous site-based experience – an asset.
  • Experience with CEC and Industry Codes and Standards.
  • Expertise with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and …
  • Soft skills – such as communication, multi tasking, shifting priorities, meeting deadlines, leading, managing, coaching, organizing, customer services, teamwork, collaboration, etc.
